(KRON) — P-pop is having a historic year.
Lollapalooza dropped its lineup this week, and boy band SB19 became the first Filipino act to perform at the major annual music festival in Chicago.
SB19 posted on its X page the news, which generated thousands of reactions from its fans.
“Surprise A’TIN!” (which translates to “our surprise”), reads the post, which has more than two million views. “We’re so thrilled to announce that we’ll be performing on the Lollapalooza stage this 2026! Can’t wait to see you, Chicago.”
Pop music from the Philippines (Pinoy pop) has made its way into two of the United States’ biggest music festivals. The first was girl group BINI, who will make history as the first Filipino act to perform at the Coachella music festival in Southern California.
SB19, a five-member boy band, is set to perform on the first day of the festival (Thursday, July 30).
