Police located a man hiding in a nearby brush. SJPD said the suspect was in possession of a bag of heavy-duty wire cutters and more empty bags.
A woman was waiting in a getaway car, according to police.
The duo was arrested for grand theft, conspiracy and possession of burglary tools. A substance suspected to be methamphetamine was found on the female suspect, police said.
SJPD explained the dangers of copper cutting on a post on social media. “Copper theft cuts deeper than cables – it endangers lives, cripples essential services, and carries serious criminal consequences,” said the department.
