(BCN) — A key stretch of eastbound Interstate 80 reopened Sunday night, which Caltrans said was several hours earlier than planned, after crews completed major weekend repair work on the Bayshore Freeway.
The closure affected eastbound I-80 between 17th and Fourth streets in San Francisco, where crews worked to rehabilitate nearly 2 miles of freeway. The roadway reopened at 11:13 p.m. Sunday, about seven hours ahead of schedule, Caltrans said.
Construction teams also used the closure window to repair the Fourth Street off-ramp, which Caltrans said allowed them to avoid a separate weekend shutdown that would have been needed later.
