SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Six leading candidates to be the next governor of California are set to step on the debate stage at KRON4’s San Francisco studio on Wednesday April 22 at 7 p.m. The debate will be televised across the state at six California stations owned by KRON’s parent company Nexstar.

The candidates for Wednesday’s debate, two Republicans and four Democrats, qualified through Nexstar’s standardized qualifying criteria. They are:
Republicans:
Steve Hilton
Chad Bianco
Democrats:
Tom Steyer
Xavier Becerra
Katie Porter
Matt Mahan
Former Bay Area Congressman Eric Swalwell, who suspended his campaign and resigned from Congress amid sexual assault allegations, will not be taking part.
The debate will be moderated by Inside California Politics host Nikki Laurenzo and KTLA anchor Frank Buckley.
How to watch the California governor’s debate
The first hour of Wednesday’s debate will be televised live on KRON4 News at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The entire 90-minute debate — including the last 30 minutes which will not be shown on TV — will be available watch on the KRON4+ streaming app.

The debate will be broadcast live and streamed across all of Nexstar’s California stations, including KRON4 in San Francisco, KTLA in Los Angeles, KSWB/KUSI in San Diego, KTXL in Sacramento and KGET in Bakersfield.
