(KRON) — The Oakland Police Department said four juveniles linked to a series of armed carjacking robberies in East Oakland — including a pistol-whipping incident — were taken into custody Tuesday after they ditched their vehicle and tried to outrun police.

OPD said patrol officers spotted one of the stolen vehicles, and the driver did not pull over for police.
“Officers later located the vehicle in the area of Kingsland Place and Morcom Avenue, where multiple juveniles exited and ran,” said OPD in a statement in KRON4. “After a brief foot pursuit, officers took four juveniles into custody, two from Oakland, one from Hayward, and one from Richmond.”
Police said they recovered two loaded, unregistered firearms during the arrests. “Both firearms had devices that converted them into fully automatic weapons,” added OPD.
Despite the arrests, this remains an active case. Anyone with information is strongly encouraged to contact the OPD’s robbery division at (510) 238-3326. Those with videos or photos that can help investigators is asked to send them to cidvideos@oaklandca.gov.
