SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — We’re fresh off a historic WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas, and “The Finish with Kor & Tor” had several World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) superstars join us on the road to the Show of Shows. We asked our WWE guests what they were most excited about heading into Vegas — and they gave us plenty to work with. Now that this year’s Mania is in the books, we’re looking back at the top subtle hints they dropped compared to what actually went down.
Chelsea Green hinted at a surprise in a women’s WrestleMania match
Green joined The Finish on Nov. 26 to talk about Survivor Series just days away in San Diego, but of course, we had to ask her about the bright lights of Mania in Vegas.
“I’m always excited to see the women’s matches,” said Green. “That’s what I go for; that’s what I love. I love to see the surprises.”
One of the biggest returns on Mania Saturday was Paige, who teamed with Brie Bella to defeat the Irresistible Forces and win the Women’s Tag Team titles. Green never named Paige outright, but the emphasis on “surprises” in the women’s division definitely had our wheels turning.
Maxxine Dupri alluded to a big Liv Morgan WrestleMania moment
Dupri joined The Finish on Dec. 19 as the reigning women’s Intercontinental champion and pointed to something building with Liv Morgan.
“I’ve really, really been intrigued by these women’s packages… and this one of Liv, like ‘Liv is back!’… I’m excited to see what else may happen.”
Sure enough, Liv performed her single Trouble during her WrestleMania Sunday entrance, then defeated Stephanie Vaquer to win the women’s Raw championship.
Bayley implied at JellyRoll being involved in a WrestleMania match
During a March 13 interview, Bayley talked about the growing list of celebrities stepping into the ring — like Pat McAfee and Bad Bunny — and casually added Jelly Roll to the mix.
Jelly Roll hadn’t appeared on WWE programming since his in-ring debut at SummerSlam, but he popped back up in a big way, getting involved in the storyline between Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton — and sent McAfee crashing through an announcer’s table at WrestleMania Saturday.
Kit Wilson foreshadowed a run-in with John Cena
Wilson joined us on April 9 ahead of Friday Night SmackDown at the SAP Center on April 10 and predicted he might cross paths with the host — the GOAT, John Cena.
At WrestleMania, that’s exactly what happened. Wilson and The Miz stormed the ring looking for a moment. Cena introduced himself and hilariously asked who Wilson was — before things got chaotic when Danhausen and his MiniHausens showed up and sparked a brawl.
“John Cena… once known for his rap ability. Now Kit Wilson, known for his slam poetry… maybe there’s something there. That’s the beauty of WrestleMania — I could be out there, have an impromptu match… or take matters into my own hands and become ‘The Poet of Thuganomics’ and take on ‘The Doctor of Thuganomics.’”
