(KRON) — The driver of a red Ford Mustang that clocked 120 mph was arrested and booked into jail, according to the California Highway Patrol Redwood City office. The sports car was allegedly speeding on the highway shoulder last weekend before crashing another vehicle onto an active railroad track.
“His excuse for driving recklessly and evading officers? He was running late for work,” the CHP office said in a social media post Wednesday.
The suspect tried to evade officers and exited the freeway onto city streets multiple times, according to CHP.
Officers soon called off the pursuit because the public safety risk was “too great,” CHP said.
“While trying to get away, the driver of the Mustang exited the freeway at too high a speed, lost control and struck another vehicle, pushing them both onto an active railroad track,” said CHP Redwood City.
