(KRON) — Vallejo Police Department officers conducted an operation downtown along Marin Street and Sonoma Boulevard searching for people who solicited sex from prostitutes.
Officers said they observed several drivers on May 1 circling the same blocks and pulling over to speak with sex workers on the sidewalk.
“Several vehicles were seen leaving the area only to return to repeat the same behavior with other sex workers. This pattern is consistent with the solicitation of commercial sexual activity. Officers conducted multiple enforcement stops, resulting in ten arrests,” VPD wrote.
Many of the 10 arrested suspects were from cities throughout the Bay Area, including Hayward, Pittsburg, San Pablo, Windsor, and Healdsburg, police said.
One man attempted to flee from officers by reversing his car toward patrol vehicles and speeding away. “Officers initiated a felony pursuit as the suspect recklessly drove through city streets, running stop signs, driving on the wrong side of the road, and forcing other motorists to take evasive action to prevent near collisions,” VPD wrote.

Officers deployed spike strips that flattened the fleeing driver’s tires, and the pursuit ended on Sacramento Street near Wilson Avenue. Police said the driver and one of his passengers were from Healdsburg, and a second passenger was from Windsor.
