(BCN) — Two people have been arrested in connection with the murder of a Newark man in February and a third suspect remains outstanding, police said Wednesday.
On Feb. 1 just after 3:30 p.m., Newark officers responded to a residence on Mulberry Street on a report of a suspicious death that was ruled a homicide; the victim was Daniel “DJ” Ledesma, 36.
On Wednesday, two arrests were made in the case: Tracy resident Raina Capuchin, 30, and Newark resident Albert “AJ” Sanchez Hernandez, Jr., 27.
Investigators are also hoping the public can help them locate Matthew Joseph Aguirre, 32, who is a suspect in the case and has a warrant out for alleged murder. Aguirre is a potential public safety risk and should be considered armed and dangerous, according to police.
Police are releasing Aguirre’s photograph and asking anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to contact 911 or their local law enforcement agency immediately. Information may also be provided anonymously through the Anonymous Tip Hotline at (510) 578-4965.
Anyone with additional information related to this investigation is encouraged to contact Det. Sgt. Matt Warren at matt.warren@newarkca.gov or 510-578-4960.
At this time, investigators do not believe this was a random act, as the suspects are known to the victim, the department said.
