APD said officers responded to the report of a road rage incident near Broadway and Otis Drive.
“During a dispute, one driver made verbal threats, while the other brandished a knife. The driver used the knife to deflate the other motorist’s tire before fleeing the scene,” police said in a social media post Wednesday.
Within minutes, police said officers were able to locate the suspect and the suspect’s vehicle in the 1600 block of Hibbard Street. One driver was arrested on suspicion of brandishing a weapon and felony vandalism, while the other driver was cited and released on suspicion of making criminal threats, according to Alameda police.
“Road rage can escalate quickly and lead to serious consequences,” added police. “If you find yourself in a conflict on the road, do not engage. Do not get out of your car to confront another party.”
Police said a driver was assaulted and pepper-sprayed in a separate incident last week.
