VALLEJO, Calif. (KRON) — Vallejo police arrested 10 people Thursday night who were suspected of soliciting prostitution during a special operation targeting those seeking commercial sex. Suspects ranged from age 21 to age 95, police said.
As a result of the police department’s Operation SAFE Vallejo (Stopping Abuse Fueled Exploitation) that took place in downtown Vallejo, police said they arrested several people suspected of soliciting prostitution in the area of Marin Street and Sonoma Boulevard, locations “known for human trafficking and exploitation-related activities.”
Police said officers noticed several drivers circling the same blocks and interacting with people on the sidewalks who were allegedly engaged in commercial sexual activities, with some leaving the area and returning to repeat this behavior. Police ended up arresting 10 suspects, several of which were from cities outside Vallejo, including Rosemead, Manteca, Sacramento, Napa, and Fairfield, police said.
During one enforcement stop, police said they recovered an unserialized H&R revolver from a Black Cadillac, which they stopped after seeing the driver engage with people involved in commercial sex work.
“Operation SAFE Vallejo is part of the Vallejo Police Department’s continued effort to reduce exploitation, improve neighborhood safety, and address the demand that contributes to human trafficking and related crimes within the community,” officials said.
