SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Kore.ai is an enterprise artificial intelligence company founded in Orlando, Florida, 13 years ago. With the recent boom in AI consumer use, the company felt it was time to establish a physical presence in the global hub for AI.
Kore.ai expanded with its first office in the Bay Area, which opened in April, the company announced in a press release. The office opened in San Mateo last month and is Kore.ai’s first office on the West Coast.
CEO Raj Koneru said he felt there was a need for his company to be in the world’s technology capital.
“Given the ecosystem in the Bay Area of great talent, lot of innovation,” Koneru told KRON4. “It’s a place we felt like we needed to be. Be able to partake in the growth of AI.
“The speed of innovation for AI is extremely fast right now. The Bay Area is the right place to meet with partners, meet with customers, learn what’s going on.”
The press release states San Mateo will be Kore.ai’s “strategic headquarters.” However, Koneru clarified that the Bay Area office will not be the company’s actual headquarters.

The San Mateo office will be home to several executives, such as Kore.ai’s Chief Marketing Officer, Chief Growth Officer and Chief Operating Officer. While Koneru won’t be based in the Peninsula office, he said he will “spend quite a bit of time” in that space.
Koneru chose to specifically move to San Mateo to be the Bay Area office as it is “accessible” and central to San Francisco and Silicon Valley. He also previously had an office in that same building for another company he ran.

“The location is perfect,” Koneru said about the new office’s location.
Currently, the San Mateo office will have 20 employees who will work on-site based on accommodation — some will come three to four days a week, some will be working more remotely.
Kore.ai was founded in 2013 in Orlando, Florida where it remains headquartered today and currently employs about 1,000 workers.
